In our 5th year, we decided on a more inclusive participation with our partner clubs. These are young in-school students who have formed clubs in their respective schools to be peer educators on disability issues within their school as well as their communities. Our advocacy outreach was beginning to show impact. We thus held a drama competition amongst the partner schools and used the day to exhibit artworks and craft. It was exciting to watch and even learn from these young persons. Their passions to impact on the lives of persons living with disabilities as well as help dispel the myths and misconceptions. Enjoy the pictures and share with us as we show you our journey so far. Keep a date with Handef next week. Do you have questions? Like us on Facebook and send your questions to us on Facebook too.

A Decade of Helpfulness 2008.

A Decade of Helpfulness 2008.

In 2007 ,HANDEF moved from its rented office to its corporate headquarters. Awareness of the programmes had saturated its primary constituency. There was increased enrollment of persons living with disabilities at the 3 special schools. We had taken the young persons with disabilities to youth camp as well other places of interest. 2007 was the year we inaugurated HIV/AIDS peer educators, started working with the world back assisted HAF project. We also did a sensitization workshop during which the NACA president, Dr Osotimehin save an overview of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. As an icing, HANDEF played hosts to the crème de la crème when it formally opened its corporate headquarter with the former first lady, Mrs Turai Yaradua cutting the tape to declare the centre open. We invite you to allow the following photographs to tell our story.
